Pros & Cons of these spurs?
I am getting spurs for my horse in the near future. Don’t worry I know how to use spurs, I have been borrowing from a friend for a while now, so I am comfortable wearing them. Im looking into either bumper spurs or knob end spurs. I have used both of these on my horse, she does fine with both. I like both of these because they are very humane and unless all I’m gonna do is kick her (which i’m not gonna do) I can’t hurt her. They are mainly for competition to give her a little more get up and go coming out of turns from barrels and poles. So what are some pros and cons of each of these? Which do you prefer and which should I get? Thanks!

of course you can still hurt a horse with knob spurs. think about it….it’s a knob….if someone would punch you in the side with a knob, you’d get bruised. your horse’s sides can get bruised by knobs if used wrong.
I have no idea why manufacturers call them humane. they’re not as humane as rolling rowel spurs.
manufacturers also call a tom thumb bit a snaffle, so….I wouldn’t take the descriptions in magazines/online stores very seriously.
back to the spur question…..I’d prefer the rosebud or cloverleaf rolling rowel spur. these are truly the most humane spur when used properly….as they have no pointy edges and they roll. it’s much more humane to roll a spur gently than to poke with a steady knob that has no give.
